Brussels Express
Brilliant documentary on cycling in Brussels, the mot congested city in Europe. Grab a cup of coffee and take 20mins to have a watch, well worth it.

The city seems to be too boring in the eyes of many and that’s why new playful urban interventions will overload the urban landscape in the coming time. New generations of grown-ups want to experience the city as a playground and designers slowly get to understand this. Whereas street artists and non-commissioned urban interventionists started to experiment with these kinds of interventions over the past years, now also governments and brands aim to be playful in public space by creating and injecting urban play elements.

Interesting video about the relationship between skateboarders and public spaces. As a skateboarder myself I appreciate the fact that different people read the built environment and it’s interesting to see how the city of Auckland are approaching the subject.

The BMW Guggenheim Lab is a mobile laboratory, which will travel to big cities worldwide over six years, addressing issues of contemporary urban life through programs and public discourse. The mobile structure will be designed by different architects and each will travel to three cities around the globe.
The BMW Guggenheim Lab by Atelier Bow-Wow opened in a gap of New York’s Lower East Side on August 3 and from October 16 it will migrate to Berlin and a city in Asia. The theme of the Lab’s first two-year cycle is Confronting Comfort.

I really like these, rode past them in Waterloo the other day. Not only are they quite contemporary, functional installations of street furniture but they also convey a positive message in regards to promoting the use of bicycles over cars in London.
